In this post, I’m sharing with you my own selection of journaling prompts for self worth that I combined into a 25-day challenge. After finishing all of the below prompts, you are going to re-connect with your true self. This is a great way to improve your self-esteem.

This post is all about self love journal challenge.

💌 What Is a Self Love Journal?

A self love journal is a notebook, app, file on your computer, or even an online self love journal of your choice where you document and express your love for yourself.

By love for yourself I mean:

  • accepting all the good and the bad about yourself;
  • putting yourself first;
  • being proud of your own achievements;
  • treating yourself with kindness and compassion;
  • caring about your well-being and happiness.

Your self love journal is your tool on the way to comprehending and enforcing self love principles in your life. Once you know what to write in a self love journal, your journey begins. You’ll very soon start seeing all the positive changes.

If you are looking to get a physical notebook to practice self love, this is the journal that I have and I am totally in love.

👍🏼 Why This Selection Is Great

I’ve seen a lot of journaling prompt lists before (just because I love journaling and trying different prompts). A lot of them say “for self love” but then you would encounter some pretty triggering questions in there… that you might not be in the right mindset for.

If you are really struggling with feeling and expressing self love you should be careful with what exactly you are trying to dig out in your mind.

I put a lot of research into this selection. It consists of all the mindful questions that are only supposed to evoke soothing, encouraging feelings.

These self love journal prompts are also arranged in a specific order.

If you start from the first prompt and go down one after one, you are going to go through all the steps of discovering the self love bit by bit, opening more and more for yourself with each of them.

📝 Self Love Journal Challenge

▪️ Understanding Why I Am Doing This

1. What does self-love mean to me?

Try to think specifically about your own vision of this. Forget about all you heard before.

This will be your “North Star” — your guide — on this journey.

2. How would it feel if I truly loved, honored, and accepted myself?

Same works here. It has to be your own, and only your perception.

This will keep you inspired.

3. How can self-love help me reach my goals?

One more answer that will keep you motivated.

By pinpointing the concrete benefits of loving yourself you are showing yourself that it’s absolutely worth your time and effort.

▪️ Embracing My Nature

1. What are my best or unique personal qualities? At least 3.

We all have some! Don’t ask anyone quite yet, deep think on this one by yourself.

2. What is a perceived weakness that I have? How could it also be a strength?

It is necessary to notice that while we usually see our weaknesses as imperfections, sometimes they work FOR us.

Think of how your weakness ever led to something positive.

3. What is stopping me from fully loving who I am?

This is one of the most important self love journal topics.

To start doing something regularly we usually have to get into a habit of doing it. But the most difficult part is actually to start. And at this step, it would be helpful to ask yourself: what is preventing me? What is not letting me go there?

And then slowly weed it out.

4. What do my loved ones admire about me?

NOW you can go and ask what they think. But better than that, try to name some things beforehand.

It’s good to know if you can or cannot figure what great things your dearest people see in you.

▪️ Appreciating My Past

1. What is one of my favorite memories ever?

This will remind you how wonderful your life is (no matter what) because if you got to be that happy at some point in your life, you can easily repeat that.

You have that ability in you. You just have to wake it up. That is if you haven’t yet.

2. What do I need to forgive myself for?

This is a crucial question to ask yourself if you want to reap the benefits of self love. Write as many things as you can remember, and then work through all of them one by one.

3. What is my biggest insecurity right now? And 3 reasons why I should still be proud of it.

I believe that insecurities are actually a part of our past, not nature.

Insecurities are being born when we are judged for who we are, and our mind is trying to protect us. It’s good to know what your insecurities are though. Because that way you can calculate when your behavior is determined by self-doubts and fears, and work on it.

4. What am I grateful for in my life right now?

List as many as you can come up with, even the tiniest ones (a life-changing book you are reading or a new productivity app).

It will show how many special little things there are actually around you every day.

(That you probably tend to take for granted. No worries though, we all do — that’s how humans are built.)

5. What are some kind words about the life I’ve lived so far?

This will allow you to notice how far you’ve come and how much you’ve done.

▪️ Acknowledging My Achievements

1. What am I proud of myself for?

Even the smallest things would work here too. Like finally getting into a daily workout habit, or organizing your workspace after long days (or months) of procrastination.

2. What is my biggest achievement?

Now, THIS one has to be your biggest one. Maybe accepting a project from your dream client? Or getting approved for a work visa in a different country? (that was me)

3. Ten reasons I should thank myself for.

For example, remember the situations when you managed to set your boundaries and protected your personal space. Or maybe it is something that you didn’t want to do but forced yourself knowing it was the right thing? Or it can be something completely far away from these. Freedom is yours.

4. Five things I invented myself. It can be as simple as a way of fixing a bed.

You are unique! Even if it’s the way you fix your bed.

5. What are the 3 times when I helped someone?

This shows that you know how to treat others with kindness… Don’t make an exception for yourself.

▪️ Figuring Out an Action Plan

1. Who/what makes me feel most loved?

Call or see someone who really makes you feel loved as soon as possible! Just have a couple of words, and that’s enough. It’s that simple.

Do what makes you feel most loved as often as you can. It puts your mind in a good place, and you basically “train” it to feel loved.

Repeat these steps regularly.

2. What can I do to make myself feel happy in the next 24 hours?

Whatever you wrote down — do it. The more you get used to the happiness state, the easier it is to switch to it and get out of a funk.

3. How can I set boundaries for myself?

This is SO major. Both in relationships with other people and in business.

The sooner you figure out how to set your boundaries, the sooner you will start seeing notable changes in your well-being.

4. What goals am I working towards?

It’s important to have some goals since it’s the best driving force. It gives you purpose and a feeling of accomplishment every time you meet the target.

5. What is a small simple habit that I can implement in my life that would make me a better person?

And start tomorrow. Self-improvement works wonders for the confidence boost. Just sty consistent.

6. What is one simple thing I can add to my daily routine to love myself every day?

Note that this is not about bubble baths or chocolate cakes.

This is about deep unconditional love. It is about accepting yourself, it is forgiving yourself for mistakes, it is protecting yourself from bad or toxic energy.

Think of how you can implement these mindful practices, either it is a jounaling moment, meditation, or just doing things you love (OK you can do a bubble bath or chocolate cake if that’s the case 😉 ).

7. What do you need to start saying “yes” to?

It’s a great idea to say YES to things that you want to do but you are scared/it’s not a perfect moment/you are not ready etc. The truth is that a perfect moment is never gonna come.

Think of things like this, and say YES to them next time.

8. A little letter to myself explaining why I am worthy of love.

Address yourself as if you were writing a letter to a best friend that you love, cherish and admire. Show all the affection and appreciation. And don’t be afraid to be too much. You won’t be.

🌱 This Is Just A Beginning

Now look through your notes and come up with your own steps to self love. Start applying them to your everyday life immediately.

Your real journey starts here.
